On the occasion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Prada unveiled two new stores in Shanghai, together with the existing 12 direct-operated stores in China, further highlighting the brand's confidence in the Chinese market. The Prada Shanghai Peninsula Hotel Boutique opened on May 11 and the Shanghai International Finance Center opened on May 23rd.
Shanghai Peninsula Hotel PRADA Shop
The first new store is located on the first floor of the Shanghai Peninsula Hotel, covering a total area of 334 square meters. Shanghai Peninsula Hotel is located next to the historic Bund and boasts a number of luxury boutiques that face the street and are connected to the hotel lobby at the same time. The second new store is located at the Shanghai IFC Shopping Center, which is home to many top international luxury brands. It consists of two floors and covers an area of about 1200 square meters. Both new stores were designed by the famous Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi to sell men's and women's clothing, bags, shoes and accessories.
The most significant feature of the Prada Shanghai Peninsular shop is the connecting of the hotel lobby with the shop's promenade. The light-flowing brand-new light boxes, neatly-displayed windows and black glass walls with PRADA logos elegantly surround the store space.
The two entrances of the shop (one on the street and one on the inside of the hotel) connect spacious polygon shops. The visual style of a unified product display and window and two entrances are distributed. Prada store's representative design elements - light green wall with beige carpet - combined with the rich mirror, glass wall and polished metal counter design in the store, make the interior of the store more transparent and bright. Exquisite and highly-styled colors, such as the lavender velvet seat in the women's area and the velvet sofa in wheat, make the overall design perfect.
Prada Shanghai International Finance Center
Prada Shanghai International Finance Center has a striking exterior design. The neatly arranged circular concave surface is made of mother-of-pearl shiny metal and is in harmony with the diamond-cut design of the exterior of the entire building. The center of each circular concave surface is filled with circular light holes of different sizes to scatter the changing light beam. Under the projection of light and shadow, the appearance of the entire shop is full of dynamic beauty.
The two entrances of the shop (one on the street and the other on the inside of the mall) take you to the first floor of the store. The representative elements of the Prada store are filled with this new shopping space: soft green canvas walls; wheat carpets on the floor; fog-mirror display cabinets in the women's area, decorated with ivory Prada embossed leather; and mahogany with Stainless steel decorated men's area.
The black marble staircase leads you to the second floor shopping space and sells footwear and men's and women's clothing. The design concept is inspired by the classic museum style: the niche is made of polished stainless steel and glass, and the interior is made of mist mirror and ebony wood, creating an elegant atmosphere that fully expresses the noble qualities of the product. The display cabinet made of spliced glass and polished stainless steel and wheat velvet seats are scattered in the store, making the overall design even more perfect.
